NEW 17P & Tobacco Cessation Materials

July 25, 2017 by Megan Canady

CMIH has developed NEW 17P and Tobacco Cessation Patient & Provider Materials.

Many of the items are now available to be ordered through the NC Division of Public Health, Women’s Health Branch. Click HERE to find the form.

You Quit, Two Quit, our perinatal tobacco cessation quality improvement initiative, has new provider and patient materials.

Our new Practice Bulletin is full of information for health care providers about the 5As, resources, billing, pharmacotherapy, preventing postpartum relapse, electronic nicotine device systems, and integrating trauma informed care for women who use tobacco.
Our new patient education booklet,  E-Cigarettes &Vaping: Information for Women & Their Families, provides information for pregnant women and mothers on the risks associated with e- cigarettes and self-help guidance for quitting. This booklet can be ordered through the NC Division of Public Health, Women’s Health Branch.
We also have new posters designed to help encourage pregnant and postpartum woman to be tobacco free –available in  English and Spanish.
We have a two-sided handout in English and Spanish that highlights benefits of being tobacco free for both the woman and her infant on one side and on the back shares some important health risks about e-cigarettes.

CMIH has created new materials to promote 17P use among eligible pregnant women.  The aim of the new materials is to identify and educate women who are appropriate for the use of 17P as a means to reduce the risk of  a repeat preterm birth.

A new one page handout, Is 17P Right for Me?,  addresses the most common questions and concerns that women have identified regarding 17P (English and Spanish).  The handouts can be ordered through the NC Division of Public Health, Women’s Health Branch.
Also now available to order through the Women’s Health Branch is our 17P booklet (English and Spanish)
There are also new posters designed to  provide a general  preterm birth message to help women who have had a prior preterm birth to initiate a conversation with their healthcare provider. ( English and Spanish)
