A Meeting of Family Physicians and Colleagues focused on Quality Improvement in Maternity Care was held on Monday September 21, 2009 from 10am to 4pm at the UNC-CH Department of Family Medicine, William B. Aycock Family Medicine Building in Chapel Hill, NC.

PURPOSE

Bring together family medicine physicians and colleagues in North Carolina who are committed to improving quality of health care and health care access for women during their reproductive years.

Launch a high impact committee to address quality improvement issues in preconception / interconception, prenatal, labor & delivery, and postpartum family medicine practice in North Carolina.

Increase attendees’ knowledge about maternal quality improvement initiatives in North Carolina and beyond.

Discuss potential initiatives for the committee and partners to address over the next several years.

KEYNOTE

Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Stephen Ratcliffe who directs the Family Medicine IMPLICIT Network out of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. To learn more about what they do click here. In addition to providing information about the work of the IMPLICIT Network, Dr. Ratcliffe will lead the group in discussion about the nuts and bolts of building a collaborative and the role that family medicine can plan in improving perinatal health outcomes.
