Parents and families are at the heart of the work we do. We know that patients and families have important insight as to the things we do well and the things we could do better. They also bring rich experience and many different resources to our efforts to provide the best care we can.

The Family Advisory Board of the Newborn Critical Care Center (NCCC) is made up of parents who have had one or more children in the Newborn Critical Care Center partnered with doctors, nurses and social workers from the NCCC Staff. The mission of the Board is to improve
communication and services to families while they are in the NCCC and after they go home. Through the Family Advisory Board, parents provide input on NCCC policies and resources and contribute expertise on specific issues that affect families.

The Family Advisory Board will have an Open House on September 25th, 2008 from 6-8 pm in the Children's Hospital. Meet with former NICU parents and staff to discuss ways to improve care and support current NICU families. For more information call Judy Ward at 362-9534 or Tara Bristol at 843-0052.

Stay tuned for their plans and ideas! Interested?  Have questions? Send an email to Tara Bristol, the MOD Family Support Specialist ,Tbristol@unch.unc.edu or call at 843-0552 or Judy Flower Ward - JTFWard@aol.com , Parent Co-Chair.
